I make rough drawings and written descriptions of my ideas for pieces of jewellery - it is unusual for me to draw up a finished piece before it has been made. When I have a strong idea I want it to continue to evolve during the making process, through my working the material.
Drawing regularly (from life, people, the city etc.), has a tremendous influence and supports the whole process. Music is another important factor for me, as I work. My aim is that the finished piece will convey the initial idea but has developed in a way that has surprised me.
Wrapping parts of the body with abstract shapes, as if the metal could have formed itself into the shapes of its own accord.
